Day 136 Zero at Hiker Haven

28th August
I Woke at 6.30 early Thanks to the loud horn of an early morning train and then lay awake till I needed a wee
I eventually got up but due to camping on the grass the outer tent was wet. But hopefully the sun will soon dry it. I went through my gear I seem to be carrying more even though I keep dropping stuff.
I sorted through my maps worried about money but then decided to worry about it later and went for breakfast .eggs bacon and hashbrowns with  coffee .A great breakfast bloody tasty.  .I still wanted a lift to the next town to REI and a man calked Jim had offered to take me . But I couldn’t find him. I walked back to Hiker Haven then with fellow hikers we put all the trash onto the back of the pickup to take to the tip which was at the far end of town Maverick and I went with Jerry to dump it…on the way we stopped at Skykomish  garage ,i brought a pair of badly needed  sunglasses $6 bargain  and some snacks then onto the tip
Nearby the tip was an emergency runway for light planes and helicopters  to land to search for lost Hikers and local emergencies
Once back I managed to contact my bank to get my credit card limit increased just in case  !!!.Phew relief
Then I managed to get through to Virgin to get my flight details sorted another big relief phew.
Then Jim arrived he could take me to the store at 6pm great that will do.
I packed up my stuff and my now dry tent. Cooked myself some lunch and enjoyed the sunshine. During the day a steady stream of hikers kept arriving. Some stayed others just pass through. We organised a team photo which was good then Jim arrived another hiker called mermaid also  wanted to go to Rei.Off we went it was almost a two hour drive.
At last  REI  I swapped out my faulty shoes but they didn’t have my tent bugger .I went down to customer services and explained could they send me one overnight when the sales assistant produced one thank god
But as I was now in Washington I had to pay tax, I didn’t really understand but paid and soon we were heading back.
As I walked into the dorm I was greeted by Da vinchi and Dc .I hugged my mate Da Vinchi and Dc thrust a cold beer into my hand. Maverick then handed me my box of by now cold pizza well it was almost 9.30 but I still managed to plough  through it . helped  with  the od beer .The rest ill have for breakfast. I ended up watching Austin Powers with the guys and gals then off to bed zzzz A good day :0)

Day 121 Climb every Mountain

13th August
My alarm went off so I ignored it and again and again.i dozed staring at the ceiling of my tent .The couple were up I could hear them giggling and clanking pots.its no use I need to get up .I packed my pack then emerged from my tent.stuffed the rest of my gear in then dropped my tent.
I refilled water then said my goodbyes and rejoined the trail ready to continue with my climb. There was no sun just mist  and where it had rained yesterday the plants were sodden and so it wasn’t long before I was soaked.I pushed on with my feet squelching. It was probably a fantastic view but all I could see was fog.up and up I went I guess id be doing this all day.so nothing really to say.i normally go three hours but something was wrong with me left shoe so I came to a halt  .
The inner sole had wrinkled and   was hurting my foot.i took it out and tried to flatten it .I also chanfed my socks for dry ones squeezing almost a pint of water from each. I hung them on my pack to dry then had breakfast. .
The sun was doung it’s best to shine but the fog was currently winning. Bit the snakes were out I  csme across six 3 dark brown two yellow and black and a funny coloured one  sll the size of my small finget and all about 18 inches long.too fast for my camera thankfully .and aldo losf of greenish large slugs but no snails how sad lol
Around the next corner I noticed Foxxys tent morning  Mr fox   I said he would soon catch  me .up and up and up I went sometime switchbacks sometimes just a steep climb..it wasn’t long before Foxxy caught and passed me we walked a while then he was gone but then I caught him getting water at the next stream..I liked the woods we  we’re currently in as there was moss all around so it looked like a jungle , there were also some huge trees which I really love.
I plodded on my tummy rumbling and my back aching under the weight of my fully stocked pack.did I make a mistake switching packs?
Okay lunch I sat down on some rocks.
Cheese and ham tortillas for lunch  a few nuts and crisps and I was ready to go..except my left food was still . complaining. I hadnt said but I’ve lost 3 nails on this foot .mainly due to kicking rocks  but the pain was due to the rucked up insole. No good I pulled it out and shoved it in my packs pocket.i tried it mm seems okay so off I went still climbing climbi  I think at the end of the day I go down then the next day back up such fun  !!!!! At last I was at the top but todays climbing had exhausted me and I really fancied calling it a day but it was only just 3pm .I then came  across a girl called Prom Queen  .yes snail its down now …Phew. She was Sobo and yes it was down for her too lol.i set off feeling happier but still tired.  The hours ticked by but just tooo slowly. .but I was getting there I crossed several large creeks  by bridge .stopping at the last to refill with water as I was now lookung for a campsite as my watch pinged six.
Okay not a huge milage but I started late and have been climbing all day
I came to a large meadow this looks good I said to myself as I neared the end there were  several suitable spots I choose one and threw my tent up.
Soon I had a hot cup of tea in my hand and I was begining to relax
Only 480 miles to go whoop

Day 120. The bridge of Gods

12th August
I woke early too early and then dozed till 7 am .I wandered off to the park to have a last shower. God those showers are good really powerful. I put my shorts on and air-dried the rest of me .before wandering along the river bank. As I walked back I came across  Endure another brit. .he was still waiting for his shoes to arrive at the post office.  I called into the garage and grabbed a coffee before heading back to Shrek’s.
I began to pack up god why do I always have so much stuff .I emptied my tent onto the picnic bench and began to sort again .do I really need this. I dumped rubbish and extra food I put into a hiker box. Hats looking better I said to myself. I had no switched back to my bigger pack so everything now fitted in :0)
I still had a box unopened so I took it to the post office to bounce.
Once back at Shrek’s I dropped my tent tied it too my pack and I was good to go. Strange Bird was cooking more hash browns so I joined him for the left overs and lion King then appeared with coffee.
I caught up with my blog then I had to go. I hoisted my pack onto my pack said goodbyes and strolled out
I just wanted some cheese and bits then I was good to go.
I was so looking forward to crossing that bridge. As i crossed the road I met two hikers coming from the post office. I gave then a quick run through of shreks. The best pubs the laundry where the loos and showers were. Then I headed for the bridge.
The toll booth lady greeted me like an old friend  and high fived me told me I didn’t have to pay and wished me luck
I stopped and took a few photos before striding out. Now I was so looking forward to this crossing but as I walked. Out I was almost frozen to the spot with fear! It was fairly windy and the road was mesh so you could see straight down into the river
OMG I clutched the hand rail tightly and my poles with the other and sort of shuffled across and it was a long way I had to stare straight ahead. I must of looked stupid at last I could see the other side and began to relax my grip on the handrail and enjoy the last few metres whoop whoop I’m now in Washington.
I crossed the road and joined the trail. If I didn’t know better I could have said I was on an English overgrown footpath. It was covered in brambles. Stinging nettles. And those plants with the large balls that get stuck in your clothes and hair and other common English weeds. At last the trail was cut back and wide as. Began to climb. I knew it was going to be a tough day with lots of climbing and of course a full heavy pack
But I was feeling great only 480 miles to go thank you all for all your encouragement and comments. I wasn’t sure if I could get halfway

But now I’m almost there so thank you again everyone .I really appreciate it.
The wind began to pick up then there was a bright flash. Looks like I might be getting wet. Then there was an almighty BANG!!! which scared the shit out of me the thunder was so loud then it echoed all-round the valley OMG…..I pressed on as fast as I could as I was climbing up hill and would be all day .luckily I was in trees so I was staying fairly dry. But I stopped to put on my packs rain jacket and mine .I find I get just as wet with my jacket on as I just sweat
I pushed on for three hours before having to stop for a break.it was a nice spot I could camp here but it was only 4pm I do another hour I said to myself and hoisted my pack onto my back. The rain had stopped but I was still getting soaked from all the plants up and up I went this bit was steep then great my favourite terrain ROCK. I stumbled over it and then some more and then some more .well I can’t camp here. Come on flat spot as my watch pinged 5 pm nothing then more rock to navigate around but this was a long stretch click clack my feet went as I walked over the stone. I was now tired, heavy pack, uphill and soaked .Oh a tent. I first thought it was Da-Vinchi but it was a couple. Would you mind if I was to join you?
The guy was from New Zealand she was Australian but lived in the USA.
I put up my tent and enjoyed a nice cup of tea. Then made dinner
then a familiar face appeared on the trail it was Foxxy. We chatted a while he had spent a few days in Portland
and had a new pack. Then he was off .he was trying to finish the climb tonight. I will finish it tomorrow.
Then Bed
