Slept really well striped tent and packed. Not the last to leave for a change. Most of the others were having breakfast at the top..I joined them and was on the trail by 7 am. It was a gorgeous day, light wind and the trail started downhill hurrah. Before its normal climb.bit on the whole it seemed very flat. I wondered how long before the others caught me.there was :Thor the hiking Viking his partner Ferntoe, French Toast and Alpine. I was making good progress. Stopping now and then for a photo. The scenery as ever breathtaking. .The hours and miles were ticking by soon I will of done 8 miles I was flying and not even 10 am. I began to drop down looks like a town maybe.i arrive in a car park and loose the trail.a man in a camper says it’s over here. As I approach him he days would you like a root beer float.yes please I say don’t know what it is but ill have one.its soda and ice cream bit like a milk shake. It tastes gorgeous .just then Thor arrives with Alpine they too get the same.I drink up then I’m on my way.the trail weaves through some trees across a railway line then it’s a huge climb it’s now 80° it’s hot..I’m climbing slowly so let French toast and Alpine by.Why am I so slow. They whizz past me and are gone.no sign at all. At last the trail levels out and my speed increases we are climbing through amazing rock formations and the time is good god its hot and no shade no shade at all.okay next shade and it is lunchtime. At last that will do
It’s a small bush but it has shade. I brew a cup of tea. And eat my lunch then I make a second cup of tea. Time to walk
Still more climbing but only 6 miles to go. God it’s now 96° great for lugging a heavy pack up a steep mountain. Puff puff.at last the trail begins to level out and in the distance is the motor way. The trail begins to spiral down and then I’m at a huge tunnel that runs beneath. .I exit the tunnel in an amazing canyon where the rock us worn away must of been river at some point.but the rocks or rather cliffs are incredible. I can’t help staring. As you follow the path it must be some park as thee are carved signs on trees and bushes telling you what they are. The canyon winds on for several miles before I climb out.once above the views are amazing and other rick formations can be seen in the distance. My camera doesn’t do them justice because they are just so amazing. At last I am approaching my destination Ague Dulce. ..Hiker town.
Have I said it’s hot!!!! As I get into town I’m almost out of water so head over to the grocery store I buy 2 large 7 ups a bottle of water 2 oranges 2 apples and a small tub of ice cream. I sit outside drain one tin up some water and empty the tub of ice cream
The locals all say hi which is nice. I’m wandering up the road when a huge pickup stops. Wana ride? Get in.grab a Soda. He’s dropping a hiker back to the trail then he’s dropping me at Hiker heaven. On the return w stop for three other hikers. There is Thor the Viking, Ferntoe and root beer float. Once here Donna goes through how it works.
I grab a town and go and have a shower.then put. Up my tent.then laundry. They lend you clothes while yours are being washed.what a fantastic place. I caught up with so many people that I had met on the trail.Eric is here .Also Kyle and others whose name escapes me.
